Anna goes Women’s Lib on us: Downton Abbey Steam Punk Vintage Attire

This is what a feminist looks like: Anna Bates. What makes her a feminist? This darling, loyal maid has broken many rules against what would have been regarded as appropriate women’s conduct. All in the name friendship and happiness – she moved dead bodies and kept quiet about scandal, she even stepped foot in a jail house to visit her man. She’s still a favorite of the household as well among viewers – she knows how to be a bad ass maid while keeping it classy (in London). So Women’s Lib.

In this rendition of Anna we have hiked up the length and threw in some bebe mid-calf black boots (nicknamed “I’m going to kill someone with these boots”). We shortened the apron, added a bebe leatherette full circle skirt and put in some lace into the mix with this sheer bebe turtleneck. Bebe and vintage – who would have thought the two made for a dynamic duo! Then again, it’s the tanchi way of life – curating from everywhere and anywhere, including using a dainty vintage 1950s apron (click to purchase) for panza coverage. To top off the fem look – some vintage dazzling necklaces made of big, black, shiny coated beads and a beautiful vintage hat with plume and sequins – so 19th century (click to purchase). Oh the lost art of millinery

At this rate, we might see Anna following in Sybil’s footsteps and holding a picket sign for the right to vote. Only time will tell. For now, Anna’s feminism is translated as chic and true to tradition in this ‘Anna goes Women’s Lib on us’ look.
