I knew I shouldn’t have done it, but I did.
I stepped foot into a Madewell store for the first time and now bebe has some competition in my closet. My poor cartera.
On Thursday, August 1st, Madewell opened it’s doors at the UTC mall in La Jolla, San Diego and catered the event with personalized Madewell cupcakes and champagne–all while spinning tunes by a fabulous DJ. San Diego Style Bloggers Sivan and Adrienne of The Pretty Chouette attended in addition to Christine!
I wanted everything in the store, especially the White T-shirts.
If there is one thing that dominates my closet it is white t-shirts, and I have yet to come across the perfect tee until this day. American Apparel was the closest so far, but alas, a well constructed t-shirt with a durable and faltering drape. With the non-guilt of playing around in the sand with it on! The V-neck pocket tee is currently on sale for $14.99 and awesome for panza coverage!
Christine –a petite herself – picked up a couple of great new shorts that were a perfect fit! Madewell garments, I’ve found, are petite friendly. There was even a denim bar with a great jean selection for the curves!
What I love about the Madewell brand is the overall aesthetic of “Westcoast J.Crew.” This means trouble because I am huge fan of the umbrella J.Crew brand, but it’s not always affordable for this tanchi.
Madewell is lower price point mesh of the best of both coasts! Laid back preppy – Madewell will definitely be making frequent appearances on this blog!
For this event, I wore a more casual outfit – a coral colored cotton dress by American Apparel and a blue and white striped shawl from Anthropologie (over 5 years old!) I love timeless pieces – especially ones perfect for San Diego’s cooler evening weather. Topped off with a contrasting turquoise necklace from a street vendor in China and Dolce Vita tan leather wedges – my go-to shoe for dressing up in the summer time!
Here are similar finds for the necklace – perfect for the upcoming Fall 2013 trend of jewelry that frames the face!
